On April 2, 2009, PSFK will host PSFK Conference New York in Battery Park. The event celebrates the most creative ideas and inspirational organizations emerging from the city - people who we write about on our daily news site at PSFK.com.

Tailored for creative professionals, strategists and the media, we will host 12 lectures and panels on topics that include arts & culture, design, digital & mobile technology, marketing & advertising, sustainability, social media and publishing.

Attendees come to our events to share ideas with likeminds, so beyond the talks we will curate interactive experiences in the venue that bring our core themes to life.

PSFK Conference New York is the 8th conference hosted by PSFK following successful installments in London, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Singapore.

Past speakers and panelists include creative visionaries and innovators from companies like Apple, BBC, Microsoft, MTV, NASA, Panasonic, Starbucks, Wieden + Kennedy, and the Guardian, and globally-recognized and inspiring creative minds including Shepard Fairey, Kate Moross and Jeff Staple.

Our aim to inspire an audience of creative thinkers to make things better.

AGENDA

Every day PSFK publishes inspirational creative ideas and examples of cultural and business change on our news site PSFK.com. For our conference we have identified the most pressing trends that creative professionals need to be most-informed about - and curated a day of presentations and discussions to share inspiration and ideas on these topics.
9.00 DOORS OPEN / REGISTRATION

9.40 WELCOME
PSFK founder Piers Fawkes welcomes the audience.

9.50 TALK: WHEN IDEAS CREATE GOOD
While many of us are determined to make better products, services and experiences there are many challenges and potential pitfalls along the way. Graham Hill (TreeHugger) will share the best, high-impact green products and services available today, and what we can learn from their unique stories of development.

10.20  PANEL: BUILDING HEALTHY BRANDS WITH HEART
How do you change the status quo in industries with powerful incumbents? Two emerging New York-based brands seek to alter the way we think about medicine -- from routine doctor's visits to first-aid. Colin Nagy (PSFK/Attention) speaks with Richard Fine (Help Remedies) and Jay Parkinson & Sean Khozin (Hello Health) to discuss the vision for their respective brands, as well as their insights on the healthcare industry as a whole.

11.00 TALK: GHOSTS IN THE MACHINE: DIGITAL MULTICULTURE
Celestine Arnold speaks on the changing face of race in gaming, virtual worlds and social networks.

11.20 TALK: THIS PLATFORM CALLED EVERYDAY LIFE
Like wildlife, viruses, and gold, mobile technologies don't recognize boundaries - least of all the ones we're using to distinguish "digital" from "real". Kevin Slavin (Area/Code) reveals the latest trends driven by mobile technology.

11.50  PANEL: RECONNECT
David Pinter (PSFK) leads a panel as it looks at how sustainable, economic and social conscience are driving the design of new products and services. Panel includes senior experts across industries including Sarah Beatty (Green Depot), Simon Collins (Parsons), Ryan Jacoby (IDEO) and Matthew Lusk (Hecho, Inc).

12:30 LUNCH

12.45 SHOW & TELL 1: FOURSQUARE LAUNCH
Dennis Crowley presents his new mobile social application, foursquare.

1.05 PANEL: BRAND NEW RULES - Sponsored by Wolff Olins
A discussion around whether new rules are needed to govern the behavior of brands in a world increasingly defined by changing social, cultural, technological and economic forces. Moderated by Gill Linton (The Joneses), the panel includes Doug Jaeger (thehappycorp/Art Directors Club), Paul M Taylor (Diageo), Maria Vrachnos (Peep Insights) and Paul Worthington (Wolff Olins).

1.35 SHOW & TELL 2: MWM GRAPHICS
Artist and designer Matt W. Moore (MWM Graphics) presents his popular work, explains the development of his style and shares his inspirations.

2.00 PANEL: NEW IDEA AGENCIES
Creative agencies are making more products and services to launch direct to market rather than through their clients. Moderated by Danielle Sacks (Fast Company), panelists including Bart Haney (fuseproject), Carl Johnson (Anomaly), Ben Malbon (BBH Labs) and Robbie Vitrano (Trumpet) will discuss the pursuit of intellectual property by forward-thinking companies and the motivations behind this movement.

2.40 PANEL: NEW YORK NEW MEDIA
In New York and around the world, publishers small and large are altering the way we understand and consume content. Christine Huang (PSFK) sits down with Edward Felsenthal (The Daily Beast) in a discussion about the major changes taking place in publishing and the learnings his digital publication has uncovered in its early stages.

3.20 COFFEE

3.50 PANEL: OPEN TO CHANGE
A panel led by Florian Peter (CScout) discusses how creators and the community openly come together to develop new thinking and make ideas happen. John Geraci (Outside.in), Scott Heiferman (Meetup), Avner Ronen (boxee) and Domenico Vitale (PI&C) will explain how you can leverage open communities to develop new products, services and experiences for the benefit of everybody concerned.

4.30 TALK: CITY AS CANVAS
In this talk, Marc & Sara Schiller (Wooster Collective) explore the art of altering and adjusting public space to make it more “livable” and creative. They'll discuss the effect of street art on our perception of the city and the motivation of its creators to enrich - not deface - their surroundings.

5:00 CLOSING REMARKS

5.15 DRINKS (TBD)

Throughout throughout the day, Piers will also be joined by PSFK Senior Editors Dan Gould and Scott Lachut to share some of PSFK’s favorite good ideas and inspirations.
